If you get a chance, could you measure the center to center distance between the rear x-member body mount and the intermediate mount? I thought I had measured it before I cut the rear x-member off but if I did I have no idea what I did with it.

Like I said earlier, Tim we are going to do this together. Both of us learning and succeeding. I just hope when we are both done there is some way we can meet up and see each others completed Jeeps.

Question, I don't need a sending unit with an electric fuel pump right?
Depends, if the pump has a built-in sender or not. Either way you need something to provide feedback to the fuel gauge.

Or you can keep track of how many miles you drive on a tank like me. Mine works but it’s not accurate.

You never know. I have a sister in Maryland, maybe someday we could work something out. I'll be retiring in a few years, and my goal is to have some jeep adventures in new places.

From the pix on the Pump Box, yes there is a Sending Unit Float.
Now, is it a "Low Pressure Pump" or a "High Pressure Pump" ?
Low psi for Carburetor
Hi psi for Fuel Injection

And if you are going to keep it a Carb Set up, you may also need a Fuel Filter with a Return Line.

I don't think that the original set up had a in tank pump.
You still have the mechanical fuel pump on the engine?
The in the tank pump would be a good upgrade if it matches your
Carb. Or if you plan on going to Fuel Injection. But that requires a ECM and other Electronics to work.
If you stay with a Carb,
and use this in tank pump,
Remove the old mechanical fuel pump and get a "Pump Blank" to cover the opening in the block.
They are available everywhere,
Even Fancy Aluminum ones.

I will be quite honest with you I don't know what I have on the engine haven't even really looked at it in detail yet. The only thing I question on the engine is the Carburetor, someone put a two-barrel carburetor on it that doesn't look right. I'll send a pic of it later.

First, YES that is the OEM mechanical fuel pump.

Second, they are usually dependent able, but when they start failing, they will leak gasoline into the crankcase and rarely but can get oil into the gas going to the Carb.

Third, a in the tank pump has Good Advantages. The box it is in should have important info.
*What is the psi it will pump fuel at? If it is 7 psi or less, it is good for most Carburetors. (You can add a Fuel Pressure Regulator, they are Not That Expensive to fine tune the psi like for Weber Carbs)
*If it has a Return Line, there are Fuel Filters with a Return Line built in, and again inexpensive.
*BEING a In the Tank Pump, is better for fuel delivery. Hydraulics 101, it is Better to Push that to Suck fluids!! That OEM pump is way up front of your Jeep "Sucking" from the tank. Suction depends on Barometric Pressure.
The longer the Pull, the less effective. (Which elevation will effect)
*Small down side of in the tank pumps, you lose some of the total tank capacity draw down.
You can lose up to 1-2 gallons.
2 reasons, 1 is design, 2 it uses the fuel to keep the electric pump cool and from overheating.

So in short, I would keep the New Tank and Pump if it is Low Pressure, and remove the Mechanical Pump. You now have a Fuel Sending Unit too.

I'll keep it for now as it is covering the hole into the tank and keeping dust out. When it comes time to hook everything up I'm going to have a bunch of questions on how to proceed. Thanks for the feedback, because right now I don't need to be ordering a new unit.
