Today went a little better than yesterday, but still no fire up. Did get all the essential wiring buttoned up, along with the dimmer switch. No leaks from yesterday, so went ahead with the brakes. Got the master cylinder mounted, added brake fluid, put the cap on till I could bleed em, and stopped and had a samidge (which is a sandwich eaten with dirty hands). Went back to the brakes...... reservoirs were both low - here we go.... brake line connections at the proportioning valve were oozing. They were nice and tight. This was my payback for going the flexible lines. The connections the shop used worked fine at the M/C, but sucked at the other end. They even had the M/C and a proportioning valve for fitting selection. The jousting over functional lines begins tomorrow. I got darked on, so the addition of power steering fluid and coolant will wait till Thurs.

On the bright side - got the ground wires for the sending unit and rear lights hooked up.

Sweettttt can’t wait

Just curious, did the turn signals on that side work as well?

Ya know, I don't recall. Soon as I get the coolant fountain on the intake plugged, and the weepy brake line fixed, I'm gonna try to blow it up. Once I get it back to life, I'll revisit the lights. I gotta have some noise first.....

LMAO. Hose with nozzle. Be ready to hosem down. :). Treat it like a turkey fryer. Move it out of the garage just in case

I picked up a fluid pump at Advance ($8). Screws right on the oil bottle, has different length tubes to fit quart or gallon bottles... easy...

Pumpkins, Tansfer Case, Tranny...

I'm thinking having a couple of those around would be handy....... fluid specific, so to speak.

Sweet dude you are so freakin close

If I would just quit wastin time on stupid stuff....... who needs a dual temp sender setup??? Redundancy is a good thing but can be taken a bit too far.

LMAO.... Well, the fat lady didn't sing today, but she drove by the house and waved.....

Ok - let's discuss the stupid, then hit the good stuff...... I was determined to get the brakes bled today. An older gentleman that walks by a couple times a day stopped and asked if was ready to drive it - said yep, soon as I get the brakes bled, but they're kicking my butt. He showed back in about a half hour with a brake bleeding vacuum pump WOOHOO. Said he didn't have the jar anymore, so I rigged one up, hit all four corners, all juice, but the pedal still went to the floor...... WTH?? Checked to see if the piston was even hittin the back of the pads up front. HAHAHAHAHA...... It wasn't.... on either side...... for good reason. NO PADS!!! An image of Homer Simpson popped into my head. Geez. Put the pads in, now I have pedal - not the best ever, but a pedal.

Now

Threw 5 gallons of fuel in the tank (by the way - gasoline pouring into a brand new tank sounds like it's running out on the floor...), looked everything over under the hood, and figured what the heck. It was at about this moment I remembered when I rebuilt the carburetor, I paid no attention to the mixture screws..... I just put it back where the instructions said....... hopped in, hit the starter, and got this

Had a heck of a time getting it to run...... loping, stalling, occasional burp back thru the carb. Twisted the distributor a bit, it smoothed out a fair amount, and the throttle sped way the hell up. Come to find out, the throttle cable was a bit short. Don't know why as it was the same carb, throttle cable, gas pedal, and cable bracket. So I slotted the mounting holes. Now it idles, bit is still sounds a bit like a tractor. If the weather clears up, I'm gonna try on Monday to get the timing and fuel settings dialed in. But finally, after 4 years, or more, SHE LIVES!!!

I was looking around like I'd lost something because the high heat paint on the headers had not been cured - it was smoking pretty good, and I thought I had set something on fire.....LOL. The power steering pump is a bit too tight, but that's an easy fix. Was gonna take it down the street and back, but the clutch didn't disengage- pedal felt like it should, but I'll mess with the linkage tomorrow afternoon. Now, time for a milestone beverage.... :chug:
