So - It appears I made a bad assumption..... ok, another bad assumption. This isn't my first by a long shot. I got the driver's side seat riser modded to move the seat out and level it up..... then decided I liked the CJ risers better so I tweaked ahead and tweaked them to work. Now the driver's chair sit level and clears the door by about 1/4 inch...... the passenger side was on a nice looking forward folder, so I grabbed the spare cruddy one to mid.... so I took my measurements from seat to door, cut, welded, ground, and drilled............ then began the swap. My first indication something had gone wrong was the slider mounting holes were different on the modded riser. No biggie - I remember where I put the drill...... set the modded riser in the tub to verify dims, and that was my first WTF moment. I was off by like almost two inches. I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed, but I'm not the dullest, either. The math was good. Got to looking, and noticed the two risers are actually made differently. I guess the one under the seat was a Wrangler riser...... either way, I have more work to do today. Once I get that fixed, I just need to get the Transmission cover plate with the Madonna boots installed and she'll be ready for inspection....... I'm so close to driving it I can taste it.

Finished up the passenger side seat riser. Neither fit correctly, so I decided to use the better of the two, which I presume to be the YJ riser. The sliders fit like it is, the riser itself is still tight - very little slop. I welded in rave to the base to allow room to relocate the holes. I’ll drill those tomorrow and stick the passenger seat in place. I had said that was all I needed to install, but I forgot about the female seat belt ends. Hopefully I can gat those ready while Florence is making sure we in this area are good and soggy. I did get the shifter boots stuck on the tunnel cover -

I’m gonna try to get this post in without some random stupid word spellcheck thinks I meant to type....

Made a little more progress today. Also did some backtracking....... had both seat risers in front of me, trying to decide which one to use. I think it’s the YJ riser. Anyway, I marked the centerlines of the holes in the floor

Set the riser in place and got the distance from inner door surface to center of slider mounting holes right

Marked the centers to be drilled

Once I got the riser drilled, I fixed up the tilt forward lever. The other riser’s lever was coated in what looked like Plasti-dip and the one I used wasn’t. My easiest out was to tape it off and hit it with the aerosol bedliner.

Before I stuck the seat back in I got the Transmission cover in place. I deduced to used clip nuts around the opening.

Up to this point, I’ve generally been able to get things to look like they did in my head. But I gotta say - these boots aren’t even close. But they’ll work for now. I’ll practice with the sewing machine and once I get the look I want I’ll swap em out.....

I thought about that when I stuck it in there - there more clearance with the boot, so if it bumps the Transmission I’ll just open it up a bit with the die grinder. We’ll see [emoji6]

Got one of the seat belts rigged up today - they were the female ends from an old Dodge pickup. They had plastic sleeves on em, but they were torn up pretty bad so I trashed the sleeves. That left just the floppy belts......... so I went to Walmart, bought a black plastic trash can, and cut strips the same width as the belts to add some rigidity.

Sewed a couple stitches at each end to keep em in place, and started wrapping with paracord. Was going to use a gray paracord, but the black plastic showed they, so I switched to black cord.

The plastic still shows thru, but being all black it doesn’t look too bad. Besides, once they’re in place, and the console goes in, not much will be visible. They don’t look as good in person as they did in my head, but they will do for now. Remember - just need em for an inspection [emoji6]

HAHAHA - Uh, no. Empty nester, yes. But the only thing before trying to get it inspected is the seatbelts. It been - going to rain thru mid next week or whenever the dang hurricane gets done with us, and the top is off. I’m stalling........

It has rained a ton and there is flooding. But the rain stopped long enough to put the top and doors on.
