Triple yes on the EFI.

However, my prior '79 CJ5 w/AMC 304 motor had no choke on the Motorcraft 2bbl. But, that Jeep wasn't a daily driver and was never used in cold weather where a choke is especially needed.

What EFI are y'all using on a 2bbl intake? When I look at the Sniper kits it all seems to be 4bbl. Maybe my google-fu is weak.

I'm running a sniper. I was using a MC 2100 which has a standard square bore mounting flange. I already had my adapter on for it so the sniper 2300 was a direct replacement.

Sniper also makes a kit for the CJ the directly replaces the original carter

Thanks! I have the 2100, so this should be perfect to go with the ignition upgrades that are sitting on the shelf. Summit has it marked down to $1100 right now, maybe I need to get it on the way.

The Holley Sniper #550-849 is a 2-barrel system. I don't like the Howell kits - old technology. I love my Edelbrock Proflow, but it's on a SBC V-8. I'm not aware of a model for the AMC258.

I got the 2300 master kit. FYI look for shows that Holley attends. I bought my kit at the spring swap meet in Carlisle PA. Paid 1100 out the door as a show special.

I forgot to mention that I have a holley 2300 carb 2bbl on a factory 2bbl intake for a AMC 304 . I do not plan to spend more than $100 for anything. This is not a pristine vehicle that I'm doing a full restore on.

Maybe future state, but definitely not now.

Mine is far from pristine. In fact if you want to know what condition mine was in when I got her almost 20 years ago I was paid $200.00 to take it.

My recommendation is to do a lot of research and reading about the sniper.
