What did you do to or with your CJ today?
I pondered it a bit and then called mriplaybass and we talked it out and he suggested I "might" try ported vacuum instead of manifold vacuum due to what it does for timing.

I tried it and it idled like a sewing machine for 20mins. You lose some low end throttle response but it taught me something.

I may go back to manifold and back off the timing 3-5 degrees and see what happens. See if it get idle and throttle.
It came from the factory with ported vac and I tend to think the engineers know what they are doing.

What did I do today? I got home from work and going to re install my main shaft on my NV4500 and discovered that the PO had disassembled my Transmission further than I thought, so now I am going to have to order new countershaft bearings so I can assemble my Transmission :( good news is I toke the countershaft out so I can throughly clean the case inside and out

Wheeled it like it has never been wheeled at Rausch Creek in PA. Had a great time. I was leading a group on some Green/Blue trails and took myself on some black obstacles to test myself and my somewhat freshly rebuilt Scrambler. It did great. I had a blast.

Maybe not today, but this is the first time I have had a chance to post since we were in Colorado! :)
On our way back from the 6th annual Jeep trip in Colorado Monday, we blew a tire on the trailer. Turns out the tire blew because the brake drum shattered and tore up the side wall, but that's another story.
How is this a "What did you do with your Jeep today" story?
Instead of having to use a tire iron, which mounts under trucks hood, and gets very hot! I merely got out the impact gun, climbed up on the trailer and started the Jeep, switched on the on board air, and the tire was off and the spare put on in about 3 minutes! :D
Love that OBA!!!

Not that you want to copy him. But thought I would pass this guy's name out there. He can make you custom stickers for your jeeps. Price odd not bad either. Here's mine

I managed to slide off an off-camber section of trail and destroy my rear view mirror and "adjust" my windshield so now the top won't stay together.

Then I managed to roll back down then hit a tree and bent the tire carrier pretty good. Not a good day.

I'm really glad you're not injured.

Thanks guys. It's just one of those things that happens on the trails sometimes. I ordered some new mirrors and I think I'll just need to readjust the windshield. I don't think it's bent.

It looks like I'll be able to take my spare tire carrier off and stick it in the shop press to straighten it.

To get out on the trail and break something is better than not going out on the trail at all. Hows that?

This past weekend I took my CJ over to Badlands Offroad park in Attica, IN. I went with a friend with a JKU with 35s so he was the lead in case I needed some assistance getting over anything. We ended up mostly in the woods on trails so there was plenty of trees to winch on.

My little CJ5 with open diffs did pretty well! Better than I expected. This was the first time I'd truly wheeled it. I'd just putzed around on a farm up until then. I got stuck a few times because of my smaller tires and open diffs, one of which I winched myself up the hill. In another place there was a log on the other side of a mud hole that I had an issue getting over. After taking this picture:

nBcpOeIITApabeeIATqZ3Nt-IdAgTM2zXgL51Z21_Zm9aa5yIWXzjs2rUeeI6UVmYtJinb4pO3SomhsXBgESh1ErUFAtfhJf2dmySjfu8GarxAlOaZbZfiV5KyWMfrrlRD-Sz0S3An8ZRmGyXHKoOhGxhV0it1-CblVdftVqKbbYlCBdYNm3Y6SPpXgAizeJCWH7kcx2qROXOEoFUBTgP_81fxDPnVlYeMUIN455pVyi4M3YT1NNi-JgZvxCZffvq70NKshj49aD-B8rIUyrWGrcQCKg0xsM9xyFIC4PQTSdu0apVdLlKXKw63JCThOIAc01dxOACB-SP7ZHvuQafw8H1cmjt1gPMC2A2jLlzyR03AjTDDgGt21DAO2fWbhHx2iTSxbHL-Xfq3nkdQZeYeY0X-fM2vyV2xgtpgix94_ndzbTo6dnWE6ZDuOz86T4m8uIk8z7RgcQJ0rMEfrER5k_LJn_v2ajpZkMrTahk1pLRZo9xm4hH-setWa49gk1IoUtRXpsiQRNmYtKu1yN9jenlafQZPm2buFeE1OiagvfwDd0b9AlRcjhZ0yJKP95DmC1OS-9kAN3nkXabxgxWMhJy_J2l2QRB2nSRGkt8v6zF8bP6w=w1912-h1075-no

I was able to finally bounce my way over the log and was so surprised that I forgot about the downed tree sticking into my path and lodged my tire against it. Luckily it didn't puncture or push my tire off bead. My buddy was able to winch the tree away from my tire and we were able to move on.

Great weekend.

Drove down to the pier in the CJ to pick up some Lobstah! :chug:

One of the reasons I miss living near Woostah and Gawdnah. :)

I have been working steady for about a month on the newly acquired Renegade . new shocks, new goodyear duratrac 31" tires, buff out paint, got the wiring sorted out, rebuilt Motorola alternator, tuneup on engine and cooling system.Lots and lots of small maintenance items.Installed panel mount fuse holders under lip of dash and cut out inline fuse holders (o.e.m.) and looped thru the new holders. At least I will be able to find them and doesn't hurt the originality. Then on the way back from dog park it died. Treated it to a ride on the roll-back. Problem to be determined.

Mstar, that is a great looking CJ, Do you know who made those wheels? They look like a set of Ansens that were made many years ago.

O.E.M. Renagade II American racing 15x7 D-slots AFAIK.

Relocated my CB antenna upward. Part of my quest for better range. :)

Bill, FWIW. I get the best range from my CB using a 102" SS 'whip' ant.
I keep it 'folded' over on the trail.
May I ask what antanna you're using?
