Lined my top yesterday. Pulled the windshield back to make the top fit.

Installed a MC 2100 carb on my CJ5 yesterday. Install was easy peazy. Hardest part was hooking the throttle linkage and return spring up.
Jeep fired right up, and runs like a top, didn't even have to adjust the idle speed.
Hopefully this will end the "stumbling" when going up a steep incline like the Carter BBD did.
Took it for a little test drive in the back 40 and it ran great until coming off a steep berm turning hard left. Clutch went to the floor and killed the engine. crawled up under and saw where the clutch linkage had popped out of one side and chewed up the rubber boot. Was a little pi$$ed as I had replaced the linkage a couple of months ago with brand new.
Anywho, with no tools on me [was still on my property] I had to limp him home in 4 lo 1st gear. Was real fun starting and stopping in gear lol.
On further inspection I found that one of the little C clip thingies was missing which allowed it to come apart. Got everything put back together enough to at least move it. Going to order a couple of extra clips and rubber boots ASAP.
"It's always something."

Got the adjust a jet on the carb, got to drool thru the Summit racing store a few minutes while I was there

You need to stop telling her you got robbed on the way home, and admit you blew your paycheck on jeep stuff again.

Well, I did "double dog dare him" lol.

Yes you did.

But I asked permission and the response was “I was going to ask you if you would!”

They took pics too. So I imagine I will see a picture in some advertisement some day

Nice!

New shackles and leaf spring bushings in on the rear, plan to tackle the front tomorrow morning. Getting the old sleeves out was a booger, and the factory ran the shackle bolts from the inside. Had to cut the bolt heads off as they were seized in the sleeves. Shackle bolts were worn 1/2 way through.

This is why I finally went to hydraulic. I understand they do make a better linkage system too now, but I flex and wheel too much for linkage to not bind, and binding linkage causes trail blockage, or clutch wear.

There are other options too - I believe a chain system, and cable system. Both are made to not bind up either.

Body mounts etc can also lead to the bound up linkage.

Just some food for thought - :chug:

Replaced my accelerator cable. Apparently the PO thought RTV was an adequate fix when he lost the retaining clip. I have heard of fixes with spit and bailing wire but some of the stuff I still find leaves me shaking my head.

I pulled the cover off my front axle because it was making a grinding noise and binding up. Another ring and pinion bites the dust.
