found some rot, need advise!!

found some rot, need advise!!
sound like it would deff. be worth having them fix everything.

Yes, more spent but time and headaches saved.

I called Collins bros to see if they had anything but have not had a reply yet. they sell and ship. price starts at $1000.00. They won't ship unless you look at it in person, but I would volunteer to drive over there on a Saturday and do an inspection with pictures if this sounds like something you would be interested in. If they have anything available. Did the guy you e mailed say what he wanted for the tub??

$600 with dash ,wiring and steering...always when it cant be doable:(

can anyone help out with a link for YJ swap, with what needs to be done? i cant seem to find much:confused:

awesome,thanks for the help:D

I am wondering how one ships something like this. strap it to a pallet and put it on a truck or if it warrants a real crate.

I understand why they want you to look at it before they ship it. Don't need a POed customer on the other side of the country that didn't get the cherry tub they expected.

i totally understand why, ive been looking in FL,SC for cabs and there are a few decent ones..so i think im gonna save for a few months and do a road trip.. unless i find something else but think this will be more cost effective for me.

Thanks guys, I'm diff gonna road trip I think, it's just gonna be bit til I get to. But at least I can search both cj an yj tubs..I did see a few but need a little more coin.

question, how much does one of these tubs weigh? curious for trip reasons

One of you guys has got to have pulled a tub off a frame. you must have an estimate. Please.:D

my friend has a landscaping trailer, he said hed take the drive with me if i save up so trying to figure out what type of vehicle i may need to pull it, and trying to estimate fuel,ect...so i can make some plans. cant see the body weighing that much?

Great topic. I just looked under my jeep today to see how much of the under side of mine was bad. I can see through the driver floor. Well, what I saw really was a heart breaker. I have rot just like Dan does but also around some body mount areas and the rockers on both sides are pretty bad.

I was also looking into the idea of welding in some panels but I have zero welding skills. I however don't really care about looks. This isn't going to be a tier 1 show rig. I don't want to worry about scratches or dents from the trail. So I wouldn't mind repairing the panels. However, I think the damage is well beyond my expertise on this one.

I was wondering what my options were as well. Sell the jeep and try to find a better body set up and start over, or do a body swap. I have heard about the Yj swaps and I don't know what is involved with that. I booked marked all the links you folks posted so I will be looking into those options after Easter dinner. I know whatever I do, it will look like a Cj. ;)

I know one thing. I am getting pissed @ the fact that I can never stick to my plan on build. I start looking into motor swaps and something happens to derail that plan. I start looking into a gear and one piece axle swap and again, something derails that plan.

I am really thinking of keeping the jeep and switching the body out. While doing that like someone posted, be ready to do more. Well my plan @ that point would be to do a complete frame up only to preserve and not for show.

Good luck with your deal here Dan. I know I will be keeping in eye on your progress for my own benefit. Thank you... :chug:

the more i look the more i find, who ever did the floor prior decided glue was the way to go and saturday found the supports under the front floors not intact anywore and can put a few fingers through the pass. floor!!
