That was a great fix ! Hard to believe that all came from drinking 1 beer

Nice job for the lift supports. For those who less inclined (nice way to say lazy) I used Stabilus SG304075 with a NAPA knuckle 2-687. If you wanna see the pictures they are on my first thread in this forum. Search for "disaster" and they are posted on one of the last pages.

The beer was just for inspiration - it was a nice bourbon barrel aged stout.

Physically those would fit, but the bolt holes in the top itself on mine are comprised and won’t take a lot it torque on the bolts - when I attached the hydraulics that I had, the hinges wouldn’t hold - way too much force required to close. At some point down the road I’ll see if I can find lighter strength struts

Those are good, another thing I heard about several months ago and is my go to hard beverage when in the mood is Jameson Irish Whiskey CASKMATES STOUT Edition. Maybe try the Cherokee (1996) hatchback had shock ones

The ones on the Cherokees are really stiff because the hatch is really heavy.

I was thinking the wife's 96 was pretty light. Cheap *** light hollow fiberglass. Don't remember it being that heavy when I replaced both struts. Maybe the mind is forgetting

Either way I’ll check em out [emoji106]

Over time they do loose their pressure or strength so keep that in mind

I have had 3 Cherokees and was surprised at just how heavy a fiberglass hatch was. I would bet it's at least 3 to 4 times that of a CJ hatch. Just look at the size difference.

I'll take your word. I've never had or lifted a hardtop back window.

What might work is a strut from a Chevy Traverse hood if it is long enough.

So what are you thinking the uppers are from ?

With the rear pin offset I’m thinking TJ

I have no idea where I sent this from......
